EMERGENCY HEALTH COMMUNICATIONS

EHA provides expertise in medical and health communications. In the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), EHA supports the response to COVID-19 through the placement of numerous communication specialists and medical educators in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Previously, EHA supported the Division of Public Affairs’ (DPA) Zika response through health communications, media (e.g., broadcast, print, and digital), and other agency communication channels. Our past and present work within the EOC includes surge support and emergency response on a 24/7 basis, as required. Our medical and health communication support is strengthened through EHA’s employment of highly educated writers and editors, many of whom hold advanced degrees.

Professional and highly experienced writer-editors, social media experts, and broadcast media personnel are available on a 24/7 basis to meet the needs of the CDC and the nation. Our work in the area is well-known due to success in past public health crises including the Zika response and and the 2014-2016 Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Our personnel adapt quickly to new data and are capable of handling high pressures in any public health emergency.

TV & RADIO PRODUCTION

EHA is a prime contractor supporting the CDC’s National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID), Division of Global Migration and Quarantine (DGMQ) for Ebola Surge Support. Related services include health communication, research support, writing and editorial support.

Our support for tasks in the “Communication and Collaboration Support” category is another area where EHA provides TV & Radio Capabilities. EHA’s support includes the following:

  • Coordinating tasks and strategy for the development of health communication and education materials;

  • Organizing and implementing external communication;

  • Providing consultation and guidance on communication inquiries; and

  • Assisting with the development of emergency communications content for the general public and special populations.

EHA media experts develop original digital film and animation assets in support of DGMQ’s mission. We provide project management support for the Sensis Advertising Project; this project is the CDC’s Traveler’s Health Ebola Ad Buy Strategy and has the objective of developing and conducting targeted advertising of key Ebola messages to CDC’s key audiences to increase the reach of CDC’s public communication activities. EHA serves as liaison with various CDC communications teams and vendors, providing brochure copy, scripts, and other files to produce print materials, web content, and videos.

ATLANTA-BASED PARTNERS

Our local partnerships expand the spectrum of design and communication capabilities available to task and include past performance in animation, video curriculum development, the intersection of public health education and social media, and virtual workshops. EHA worked with Atlanta-based design agency, Orange Sparkle Ball (OSB), to design the CDC's Global Immunization Division (GID) 2016 - 2020 Strategic Framework. The strategic framework is used as a road map for policy makers, public health leaders and key stakeholders to engage in the goals and mission of the GID. OSB was founded by a former epidemiology researcher for the CDC, and their team possesses extensive experience working with local, state and federal public health services. EHA and OSB provide audience-focused services that are customized to meet the needs of the mission including framing for the general public, public health community, subject matter experts (SME), and community based organizations (CBO).
